Collection: Plastic {From NYFW With Fashion Sizzle}

It was my second time at NYFW and I was extremely excited to show my new collection: “Plastic”.
This time around at NYFW, I showed with Fashion Sizzle. I was so honored when they asked me to show all the way back in March. Of course, my busy self didn’t even start the collection until July due to graduation from High School and my showing of two other collections: Creation and Demise and Soda. Both with the amazing Culture Piece Magazine.
My collection “Plastic” was inspired by Barbie and Porcelain Dolls. Growing up, I’ve always loved playing with Polly Pockets, Bratz, and any other brand of dolls you can think of. So, because I’m getting older and have seldom time to enjoy myself and relax, I’ve decided to make a collection that represents my time not only as a child, but the obsession with society to constantly stay youthful and perfect.
When you're plastic, you don’t age. When you’re plastic, you don’t cry. When you’re plastic, you’re perfect. We often try to find ways that will p…

Creation and Demise {FWMN: Culture Piece Magazine Presents: Melatonin}

Event: Fashion Week Minnesota
With: Culture Piece Magazine
Location: Le Méridien Chambers in Minneapolis
Presenting with two other amazing designers, I was so honored to show with Culture Piece Magazine at Fashion Week Minnesota. This was my first time showing anything in Minnesota, so I decided I would try something new with my design style. As many of you know, I’m a pretty fun and wild designer. I like using crazy colors and making designs you wouldn’t really expect. However, for this collection, I decided to use colors and materials I wouldn’t normally use in order to test my skills. Of course, I tried to stick with designs that I would still be proud of, but trying something new, I believe, shows my versatility as a designer. At one point or another, I was left feeling a little down because of the materials and colors were so plain compared to my usual picks. Once the day of the show arrived and everything was styled on the wonderful models, all of my doubts disappeared.
My collection was inspired by Creation and Death and titled “Creation and Demise”. I picked materials that I thought would perfectly represent the inspiration. The collection originally goes from dark to light, but for the showing, I put the piece that was originally supposed to go third, first because it was more dramatic.

At the end of it all, it was an amazing experience and I’m so happy I get to add this to the list of things I’ve done to help my career. I would like to thank Culture Piece Magazine and FWMN for giving me this opportunity and letting me showcase my designs to the people of Minnesota/the world of social media! :)
