Collection: Plastic {From NYFW With Fashion Sizzle}

It was my second time at NYFW and I was extremely excited to show my new collection: “Plastic”.
This time around at NYFW, I showed with Fashion Sizzle. I was so honored when they asked me to show all the way back in March. Of course, my busy self didn’t even start the collection until July due to graduation from High School and my showing of two other collections: Creation and Demise and Soda. Both with the amazing Culture Piece Magazine.
My collection “Plastic” was inspired by Barbie and Porcelain Dolls. Growing up, I’ve always loved playing with Polly Pockets, Bratz, and any other brand of dolls you can think of. Multicolored "Cotton Candy" Formal Dress {DIY}

This is my first formal dress (if you want to call it that) I've ever made for myself. I love it so much and I used so many tedious strategies that really paid off in the end. I was inspired by cotton candy for the colors. In a way, I kind of feel like this is something Melanie Martinez would wear!

8 yards of tulle
6 yards of cotton
A zipper

Here's the complete video on how I made this two-piece:

Things I would change in this design:
If I made this dress again, I wouldn't put the yellow and green tulle next to each other on the skirt. It was really hard to see the two different colors.
Since the shirt had almost 20 different pieces on it, I would make sure I iron every piece before sewing it together. It would give it a neater look.

Fortunately, I didn't end up going to this formal dance! :) I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway.

Thank you!
